Mom's family (Van Westervelt's) settled in NJ in 1656. Later on along the line in our family geneology one Grandmother was a Lenape Princess. I just visited Anadarko, OK today and it was great. I learned a lot !

My great grandmother was a Linni Lenape woman from up-state New York. She was not placed on the rolls maybe in part because of her marriage to a white man?? I too would like more information about the artwork of the Linni Lenape.

I am Munsee of the Thames Band Of the Delaware Nation. For thse looking for ancestors of my group try the Canadian 1911 census of Ontario Middlesex. It lists those who were counted at that time. There are also Oneida and Chipawa census of the same area.

My parental side of the family I'm Delaware - mixed w/ the european & english. Yet on my materinal side I'm Shawnee- mixed. My wife's materinal side is cherokee - mixed. We know this passed down by our elders in oral tradition. But that dosen't count for much anymore, by some of our people, who have adopted the white man's ways. Oral tradition dosen't go anywhere! True or False????
Thanks, Joe

Hello Linda, I really enjoyed your site. I am part Lenni Lenape, my mother's side DePue, related to Nicholas DePue who's sons married a Native American. I have some great photos that we've never shared with anyone. I came across your site because at 43 I'm getting my first tattoo and I want something related to my heritage. Hope to hear from you Jill

Great for doing research for my project on Delaware Indians. I found a lot of information I needed but I still am looking for other answers to questions my teacher gave me. Maybe I will e-mail you if I don't find them.

What a Great Site! I am just beginning to possibly uncover my Lenni Lenape heritage. My 4th great grandmother "Tibit" resided with the Newberry family in Warwick, Orange Co. New York in the years approx. 1670-1800. Has anyone heard of the name "Tibit" within this tribe?

Hi. I am writing from the province of Ontario. My paternal grandparents were Delaware Indians. That is what I am told by my father. My granfather's (who died before I was born) name was Marshal Dean. They grew up near Ypsilanti, Michigan. Marshal is the uncle of Jimmy Dean (yes, the sausage king) who is obviously of Delaware heritage. I would like to confirm the info my father has given me (he is 84) and trace my ancestry. If there are websites or people or anything that I can be directed to to help I would appreciate it. thanking you in advance.
